Mercure Newport

THE HISTORIC CHARTIST TOWER

Newports newest and tallest hotel

The historic Chartist Tower is home to Mercure Newport; the tallest building in the city and built in 1966, it has been expertly renovated to create an exciting new vibrant hotel for the city.

The hotel has 135 flexible bedrooms to suit all travellers, all with striking views across the city. We also have three purpose-built meeting rooms with flexible capacities on a dedicated meeting floor, paired with a spacious breakout area and coffee station.

At the heart of our hotel you’ll find our contemporary restaurant ‘Bar and Kitchen @ NP20’ which is open to both residents and non-residents. Our restaurant is home to a fabulous outdoor terrace area – ideal for cocktails with friends, pre-dinner drinks and casual dining.

Newport Transporter Bridge

Newport History

INSPIRED BY THE NEWPORT TRANSPORTER BRIDGE

Mercure Newport is a modern and vibrant building with an industrial urban look and feel.

The interior takes inspiration from the Newport Transporter bridge, which was built in 1906, which is now only one of ten transporter bridges still in operation to this day and only a few dozen were ever built.

The commanding structure of the bridge provides fabulous images and impressions that can be seen throughout the hotel.
